The invention relates to a device pertaining to roof racks for vehicles. This roof rack is constituted by supporting bars 1,2, which are fastened transversely over a vehicle roof 3 and in which running rails 7,8 are disposed which support a load object, such as a roof box 9, and can be pulled out from their respective supporting bar 5,6 and swung down with the load object 9 into an oblique position along the one side of the vehicle 4. In the supporting bar 1,2 there is disposed a movable trolley 10 having a preferably pneumatically operated piston cylinder 12. Its piston rod 14 can be used to displace a pulley 15. A chain 19, which is fixed by its one end to the trolley 10, runs around this pulley 15 and another pulley 16 fixed to the trolley and onward to the inner end section 17 of the running rail 7,8. When it is swung down along the vehicle side, the running rail 7,8 is arranged to swing the said end section 17 up from the supporting bar 1,2 and hence, by means of the chain 19, force the piston rod 14 into the cylinder 13 with the development of a counterpressure therein. <IMAGE> |
