PURPOSE:To reduce the maximum electric power and to reduce the size and weight of the device by controlling two operations, which are discharging for splicing optical fibers by fusing and the heating of reinforcing resin, so that they do not overlap with each other. CONSTITUTION:A power unit 1 supplies electric power to a heater 9 and to a discharge electrode 8 through a discharging circuit 7 under the control of a CPU 12. The heater 9 heats the heat-shrinkable resin which protects the connection part of the fusion-spliced optical fiber F to fix the fiber. An interface circuit 15 with temperature control adjusts the electric energy supplied to the heater 9 and is connected to the discharging circuit 7 to enable control by the CPU 12. Namely, the discharge signal from the discharging circuit 7 is inputted to the CPU 12 through the interface circuit 15 with temperature control during the heating by the heater 9. The heater 9 is temporarily turned OFF and the discharging is started; after the discharging ends, the heating by the heater 9 is restarted. |
