PURPOSE:To make the best use of the surplus hydrogen generated as a result of methane reforming in methanol synthesis. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, methane is reformed by steam in a reformer 1 to produce CO + 3H2. This hydrogen is then fed as fuel gas to the anode 9 of a fused carbonate fuel cell 6 and utilized for electric power generation. Thence, the gas discharged from the anode 9 is cooled in a cooler 10 and compressed by a compressor 3 and then fed to a methanol synthesizer 4 where the above CO, carbon dioxide CO2 and hydrogen 3H2 are synthesized and methanol CH3OH is produced. Thus, because of utilizing the hydrogen produced as a result of methane reforming for electric power generation, making the best use of such hydrogen can be accomplished. |
