PURPOSE:To manufacture beta-alumina pipe of high strength at high yield rate by adjusting moisture content, mean particle size, opening of sieve, molding pressure and pressing granules of beta-alumina by dry rubber press process. CONSTITUTION:Water and polyethylene glycol, as organic binder, are mixed with beta-alumina raw powder by agitation to form a slurry. The slurry is granulated by means of a spray drier to obtain granules of beta-alumina having moisture content of 2-4wt.%, mean particle size of 120mum or less, sieving opening of 30mum or less. The granules are conditioned by means of a moisture conditioner and subjected to a dry rubber press molding by means of a dry hydrostatic pressing device, wherein the molding pressure is 1-4ton/cm<2>. The molded material is then subjected to a fat removal process and burning process to obtain sintered beta-alumina pipe. As a result, beta-alumina pipe having a high apparent density after sintering, high strength and electric durability, free from internal pores, can be fabricated at high yield rate. |
