PURPOSE:To prevent contamination in a color filter pixel area caused by an overcoat layer by covering the overcoat layer at a peripheral unnecessary part with a transparent electrode layer during a manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1, colored layers 2 and black matrix layers 3 are formed corresponding to respective picture elements, and the overcoat layer 4 is then formed. Then transparent electrodes 5 are formed on the overcoat layer 4 and the transparent electrodes 5 are patterned and separated with color filter pixel parts and the peripheral unnecessary part. Then an orienting layer 6 is formed on the transparent electrodes 5 and then rubbed. They are cut along a dotted-line part 7 to cut the peripheral unnecessary part from the color filter pixel part. Thus, the overcoat layer 4 is protected while the transparent electrodes 5 are left at the peripheral unnecessary part to prevent the overcoat layer 4 from flawing and peeling during the manufacturing process, specially, rubbing process. |
