PURPOSE:To enable the transfer of recorded information to a recording film when a photomask having the patterns corresponding to the recorded information is superposed on a dielectric film and is irradiated with recording light from the dielectric film side, by which the reproduced optical memory element is easily obtd. and to enable the formation of the compact optical system of a reproducing device as the recorded information from the reflected light thereof can be reproduced by irradiating with the reproducing light from the substrate side. CONSTITUTION:The recording film 2 consisting of a photochromic material and the dielectric film 3 are successively formed on a substrate 1 having light transmissivity. The refractive index and thickness of the dielectric film 3 are set so as to easily reflect reproducing light 13 entering from the substrate 1 side and to easily allow the transmission of recording light 11 entering from the dielectric film 3 side. |
