PURPOSE:To attain smooth AF control by using a maximum value and a minimum value of noted point information obtained within a setting time in response to the information of focal distance as a focusing frame to set the focus frame attended with a change in a main object. CONSTITUTION:A controller 209 receives focal distance information from a zoom encoder 210, and noted point information from a visual line detector ED comprising a photoelectric conversion element array 6, infrared ray diodes 5a, 5b, a finder optical system 100, and a signal processing circuit 109 to detect a maximum value and a minimum value of the noted point information obtained within a setting time in response to the focus distance information. Then a focus frame is set based on the maximum value and the minimum value and automatic focus (AF) control is executed based on a video signal in the focus frame. Thus, in the case of the AF control using the noted point for object tracing, the focus frame is set to the position in matching with the object desired to be picked up in a size in matching with a zoom ratio to realize smooth AF control. |
