The invention relates to a rotary eraser (1) of simple construction, having an excellent capacity for rubbing out a word (letter) or other writing, and in which the position of the stick-shaped eraser can be easily adjusted. The eraser consists of: a cylindrical body (4); a support by virtue of which the eraser stick (20) being driven in rotation by bearing on the body (4) is held so that it can slide; an external cylinder (8) which rotates together with the support; an actuating member which acts on the support in the direction of the projecting part; and a driving dog (16) which changes the position of the stick (20) in its support during the rotation of the external cylinder (8). Thus, this system provides a rotary eraser of simple construction, which has an excellent capacity for rubbing out a word or other writing on a piece of paper, and in which the projecting position of the eraser stick (20) can be easily adjusted. <IMAGE>
