PURPOSE:To obtain the optical waveguide which hardly generates bubbles near the boundary between a core and a clad. CONSTITUTION:The process for production of the optical waveguid including a step for deposing oxide glass soot 8 on an under clad so as to cover the core 6 formed on the under clad 4 and a step for heating and vitrifying the oxide glass soot 8 is constituted to deposit the oxide glass soot 8 by repeating the scanning of the flame of a burner 12 supplied with gaseous raw materials and gaseous fuel and to decrease the density of the oxide glass soot 8 at every repetition of this scanning. |
