PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of compound word of KANJI (chinese character) (CWK) translation by utilizing a CWK dictionary for the 2nd language even when sufficiently many CWK are not included in a translation dictionary. CONSTITUTION:When a CWK consisting of the array of plural words of the 1st language can not be retrieved by the translation dictionary, respective words of the CWK consisting of the array of the plural words of the 1st language are respectively retrieved by the translation dictionary and a translated word corresponding to the CWK consisting of the array of the plural words of the 1st language is formed from the obtained translated candidate group of respective words. In addition to the translation dictionary from the 1st language to the 2nd language, a CWK dictionary of the 2nd language is prepred and the most appropriate translated word of the 2nd language is selected by retrieving the available array of translated word candidates of the 2nd language by the CWK dictionary of the 2nd language. Namely the CWK dictionary of the 2nd language is prepared instead of the fullness of the CWK of the translation dictionary. Consequently the translation accuracy of CWK (especially a noun array or a CWK of an adjective and a noun) can be improved. |
