Process for the preparation of a polyacrylate gel applicable to the extinguishing of fires

A potassium polyacrylate is treated with water in a proportion of 1 to 10 g/litre of water and at a temperature of between 10 and 40@C to obtain the gel. The advantage of potassium polyacrylate when compared with sodium polyacrylate lies in a formation time reduced to approximately 1 to 10 seconds instead of 1 to 300 seconds in the case of sodium polyacrylate. Main applications: extinguishing of fires and provision of moisture in agriculture.
