PURPOSE:To provide a symbol analysis system improved in the line width information and the line count information of an input symbol. CONSTITUTION:A document 10D is inputted, and is read by an optical scanning mechanism 10S, and is stored in a storage part 10M as a document bit map. A retrieval controller 10R discriminates a bit map corresponding to a test symbol (10C) in the document bit map. A data exclusion controller and computing part 14 excludes grdually and reduces gradually the expanded part of the upper end frequency of a spectrum. A feature item table 16F includes one set provided with N items for the retrieval path of the present line or row of a cell 10C. As for N pieces of data exclusive items, an item processor 16P handles stastically these single composite items by using mathematical technique. The composite item and the confidence coefficient of each path of an R-line and a C-row are inputted to a composite table 18C, and are processed further for the library of a reference symbol contained in a library storage part 18L by a matching device 18M. |
