PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a plasma display panel capable of improving the resolution in a vertical direction and also suppressing the reduction of luminance in an interlaced display in the driving method of the plasma display panel having structure in which the number of tracing electrodes in reduced by using either of a sustaining electrode or a scanning electrode in common at cells adjacent to both sides of the electrode and a partition or the like is not present between cells using the electrode in common in order to make high luminance easily obtainable. SOLUTION: High resolution is obtained in the plasma display panel by narrowing sustenance light emission to be spread over an electrode which is used in common while making the pulse width of a sustaining pulse with which the electrode used in common becomes a positive electrode narrower than in the case where the electrode becomes a negative electrode in sustaining pulses to be impressed in a sustenance period.
