The invention relates to an ultrasound therapy apparatus. This apparatus comprises at least one treatment device (12) comprising at least one piezoelectric transducer element (14) intended for carrying out at least the said therapy for destroying a target (16) such as tissue, and means (22) for controlling the said device (12), characterised in that it comprises means (20; 22) for controlling the said device (12), which means are intended to deliver two types of ultrasound waves via the treatment device (12), the first so-called thermal type producing a dominant thermal effect on the tissues (16) to be treated, and a second so-called cavitation type producing a predominant cavitation effect on the tissues to be treated.
