The invention relates to a composition for topical application comprising at least one particular water-soluble conditioning agent and at least one amphiphilic polymer containing at least one monomer having ethylenic unsaturation with a sulphonic group, in free form or partially or totally neutralised, and comprising at least one hydrophobic part. The invention also relates to the uses for said composition, particularly in the cosmetic field, for the treatment and care of human skin, the scalp, mucous membranes, nails and hair.
