PURPOSE:To obtain the optical waveguide device which can be easily produced and has a small transmission loss. CONSTITUTION:A waveguide element 30 formed with two-dimensional patterns 26, 126 on both surfaces of a quartz substrate 2 is prepd. Another one waveguide element 30 similar to this waveguide element 30 is then prepd. A pair of the resulted waveguide elements 30 are thereafter stuck to each other. More specifically, the optical waveguide forming surfaces of a pair of the waveguide elements 30 are stuck and integrated to each other by using an adhesive. As a result, the optical. waveguide device three-dimensionally integrated with the optical waveguides 30 is obtd. A pair of the waveguide elements 30 are aligned and stuck to each other and are fixed by the adhesive and, therefore, four 2X2 branch couplers are three-dimensionally housed within the optical waveguide device. The input/output ports of these 2X2 branch couplers are arrayed in one row for each of main lines and branch lines. |
