PURPOSE:To execute a musical performance which abounds in expressive power by an electronic musical tone generating device by controlling variously generation of a musical tone in accordance with various musical performance gestures. CONSTITUTION:Based on a fact that a performer's contact action to the musical performance surface 10 provided with an array of a pressure sensor 12 is detected by a sensor 12, the kind of a musical performance gesture is decided. The sensor array of the musical performance surface 10 is scanned repeatedly, and which sensor 12 is turned on is detected. When the performer comes into contact with the musical performance surface 10 by an arbitrary musical performance gesture, parameter data related to its input musical performance gesture is compared with a gesture recognition rule corresponding to various reference musical performance gestures. This recognition rule is allowed to be preset in advance, and also, it is allowed that the performer can set an individualized recognition rule in accordance with the reference musical performance gesture inputted by the performer. A musical tone generating device 22 is controlled in accordance with the reference musical performance gester decided to correspond most similarly to the input musical performance gesture. |
