PURPOSE:To enable selecting reading appropriate for a character string to be converted by a device for converting a 'KANJI (Chinese character) into KANA (Japanese syllabary). CONSTITUTION:A character string to be converted which is inputted from an input device 1 is retrieved by a dictionary main body part from a position obtained by a dictionary index retrieving means 2. The reading of words and their parts of speech are registered in a KANJI/KANA conversion dictionary 3 and when a specific part of speech is specified by a reading selecting means 5, the reading appropriate for the character string can be selected from plural reading states. A display device 6 displays the selected reading. |
