PURPOSE: To adjust the value of a reference voltage according to a battery to be charged by supplying a current, stopping its supply, and performing self discharging of the battery by comparing the output voltage of the battery with a reference voltage. CONSTITUTION: A power supply 2 that is connected to a battery 1 is switched by a feedback circuit 3, that consists of a comparator 4 for comparing a battery terminal voltage 5 with a battery reference voltage 6 (a voltage when charging is completed). When the voltage of the battery 1 is lower than the reference voltage, the output of the comparator increases, a retriggerable monostable 7 is set, and a charging current is turned on, thus maintaining the current to be on, when a given battery voltage is lower than a reference value. On the other hand, when the output of the comparator 4 which indicates that the voltage of the battery 1 being higher than the reference value is low, the current is turned off after a short delay. The reference voltage is determined by a voltage divider 8 for generating a reduced voltage, due to a negative temperature coefficient thermistor 9, when the temperature of the battery 1 increases. |
