The clock (1) for chess exhibits at least two dials in front of which rotate hands for analog time display, and the electronic clockwork movement comprises a circuit for counting down pulses emitted by a quartz oscillator (Q1) in order to apply control pulses to an electric stepper motor (M1, M2) for driving the hands of the dial, momentarily selected by means of function buttons (4, 8) for alternately stopping and triggering the displays. More particularly, the counting-down circuit comprises a microcontroller (U1) able to apply a pulse train to one or both of the stepper motors so as rapidly to move the hands to predetermined positions following instructions received via one or several function buttons. <IMAGE>
