<p>A compound represented by general formula (I), a pharmaceutical composition containing the same, and a process for producing the same, wherein R1: hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkanoyl or aralkyl; R2: optionally hydroxylated lower alkyl or (a); ring B: benzene ring or five- or six-membered heterocycle bearing 1 to 3 heteroatoms selected among N, O and S; R3: hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkanoyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl or aryl; R4: lower alkyl; R?5, R6 and R7¿ may be the same or different from each other and each represents hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, lower alkoxy, aryloxy or cyano, provided that two adjacent groups among R?5, R6 and R7¿ may be combined together to represent -(CH¿2?)4-, -(CH2)3-, -CH=CH-CH-CH- or (b); and n: an integer of 0 to 3. This compound (I) has a squalene epoxidase inhibiting activity and is useful for preventing and treating various diseases caused by cholesterol, such as arteriosclerosis.</p> |
