The clay brick(s) are produced under pressure from a die (11). Centre voids (1) are produced in the brick to reduce weight. A series of tongues and grooving (6,9) is shaped in the top face of the brick, and their mirror image produced in the underside face (10). The ends (5) of the tongue sections (8) are sloped backwards (4), such that when two bricks are laid together, excess mortar can exit through the gap formed by two abutting tongue sections. ADVANTAGE - Allows bricks to be laid uniformly allowing excess mortar to escape.
