The damper is controlled by a microprocessor regulator (6) in accordance with they skyhook principle. An active vibration suppressor (5) coupled mechanically to the wheel consists of a resiliently suspended mass (51) with a spring (52) and damper (53) connected to another microprocessor regulator (7) which responds to signals denoting various vehicular operational parameters. ADVANTAGE - Ride comfort and safety are enhanced with damping force related linearly to excitation rate and vertical velocities of the wheel and damper.
