A decorative article for covering an elongated car component comprises a flexible 0.002-0.010 inch thick vinyl susbtrate, a non-wettable material forming a closed edge pattern on the substrate and a cured clear plastic cap within the area of non-wettable material. The substrate is produced by casting vinyl plastisol on a smooth surface. The non-wettable material is applied to the air-side surface of the vinyl. The area of non-wettable material is surrounded by a margin of uniform thickness. The decoration is mounted on the component with the margin area wrapped around the edges of the component.
