The red light-emitting fluorescent material composed of (In1-x-yLixEuy):nBO3 [0<x 0.1; 0<y 0.1; 0.5 n 2.0 is produced by (a) mixing 1 mol indium oxide (In2O3), 0.02 mol eruopium oxide (Eu2O3), 1.2 mol boric acid (H3BO3), 0.002 mol lithium borate (Li2B4O7) with 0.001 mol potassium phosphate (K3PO4) in the ball mill, and (b) firing the mixt. in the quartz or alumina crucible at 800-1500 deg.C for 0.5-6 hr. The fluorescent material has a high luminant light-emitting efficiency.
