The drive comprises a motor (26), whose output wheel (26a) drives at least one drive roller (30) via a chain or belt drive (29). The drive roller has a profiled section which is in active connection with at least one of the two edge discs (12a) of the spool body (12). The edge disc projects approx. centrally between two flanks of the associated profile of the drive roller. The mutual spacing between the two flanks reduces the increasing distance from the rotary axis (12b) of the spool body, and with increasing proximity to the rotary axis of the drive roller.
