The heat store (9) in a pressure vessel contg. a heater coil (3) supplied e.g. with exhaust gas from an engine (1), and a gauge (12) for the level of coolant delivered by a pump (10) which is switched off and on at max. and min. levels (14,13) respectively. At the mouth of its outlet (22) into the heater circuit (19), a jet pump (24) converts the pressure of the stored coolant into corresp. energy of liq. circulation. USE/ADVANTAGE - With either combustion-engined or electric-motor-driven vehicles, efficiency of storage is increased without need for any changes of layout.
