<p>In a method for cleaning a mixture of hydrocarbon vapours, in particular petrol vapours, and air with recovery of the hydrocarbons, wherein a predominant part of the hydrocarbon vapours are absorbed in a first step in an absorption means (2) by direct contact with a petroleum distillate, the air leaving the absorption means (2) is cleaned additionally in a second step by adsorption in two filters (32, 33) with active carbon, one of which adsorbs residual hydrocarbons, while the other is regenerated by desorption of adsorbed hydrocarbon vapours by means of a vacuum pump (35), optionally supplemented with a booster pump (37), such as a Roots blower, the cold petroleum distillate used as an absorption medium in the first step being employed as a barrier liquid in the vacuum pump (35). This results in a considerably cleaner discharge air than it has been possible to achieve in the past.</p> |
