A flag is hoisted to the upper end of a flagpole by a device which operates with very little noise. The device consists of a guide rail (3) which is fastened to the flagpole and extends from the upper end of the pole to a point near the ground. The guide rail is in the form of a channel section and guides a slider (8) to which several eyes (12) are attached. These eyes form attachments for the flag which is attached by loops (14). The slide is pulled up or down the guide rail by an attached rope and holds the flag in its raised position. USE/ADVANTAGE - The flag can be raised or lowered without causing excessive noise.
