The apparatus & method always detects the operation status of the electric automobile controller, stores in a memory the controller state when a breakdown occurs, and switches on a data-in LED. The apparatus comprises a counter (9) counting analog pulse signals or frequency signals; a digital I/O circuit (10); a circuit (11) insulating a digital input data from exterior devices; CPU (8) executing various computation, input control or counter control according to built-in softwares; a memory device (12) including ROM and RAM and having the functions of data back-up, control sequence and computation sequence; a watch dog timer (14) having the functions of the breakdown detection, restart control and A/D converting; a time check circuit (13) having the reset function of erasing the memory data without the help of exterior devices.
