Reaction of a polyorganosiloxane containing Si(H) units with an alcohol so as to partly or completely replace H atoms in the Si(H)(R)-O- units of the polyorganosiloxane by alcoholate groups from the alcohol without degradation of siloxane structure is catalyzed by a mixture of an acid and a salt of an acid : Reaction of a polyorganosiloxane containing Si(H) units and of formula (I) with a saturated or mono- or poly-unsaturated, aromatic, aliphatic-aromatic mono- or poly-alcohols, polyether mono- or poly-alcohols or aminoalcohols optionally containing other functional groups (especially N-alkyl-, arylamino-EO-PO-alcohols and/or N-alkyl or aryl-aminoalcohols) so as to partly or completely replace H atoms in the Si(H)(R)-O- units of the polyorganosiloxane by alcoholate groups from the alcohol without degradation of siloxane structure is catalyzed by a mixture of an acid and a salt of an acid.
