The catch is located in a metal housing (11) recessed into the flap, or into the uprights between the flaps. The operating lever (14) lifts out of the locked position into a first position in which the locking catch (24) is partially released, a second position causes safety catches to rotate and release and a third position withdraws the catch from the lock. The operator is able to check if the flap is free to drop or if excess load is on it, enabling the load to be safely moved before releasing the catch fully.
