The invention relates to a system for braking a vehicle intended for travelling on networks imposing different standards, comprising at least two drive means, which, when one is active, the others are neutralised, which drive means are capable of generating a braking force and control the same linkage, each jack rod (14, 14a) being associated with the same transmission means by a coupling device (16) which comprises a control shaft (17) guided in rotation, and, cooperating with the shaft (17), as many coupling means (19) as drive means. It is characterised in that: - each coupling means (19) is formed from one piece (25, 25a) connected in terms of rotation to the control shaft (17) and arranged substantially radially relative to the latter, and from a means (26, 26a) which is coupled to a stop on the bearing piece (25, 25a), in order to drive the control shaft (17) and the lever (18) in rotation, only when the jack rod is displaced in a predetermined direction, - the bearing pieces and complimentary means are arranged around the shaft (17) in such a way that, when one of the complimentary means is coupled to the corresponding bearing piece (25, 25a), the other complimentary means and bearing pieces are uncoupled.

|
