The black matrix of a cathode ray tube (CRT) is formed by (a) covering a polyvinyl pyrrolidone-photosensitive liquor onto the inner surface of the panel for the CRT, and then drying it, (b) light-exposing it by the ultraviolet irradiation of 200-500 nm wave length for 2-5 sec., (c) bonding a mask onto the inner surface of the panel, and (d) light-exposing it, coating it with a colloidal graphite, and then etching it.
