发明名称 PRODUCTION OF 2,6-DIMETHYLNAPHTHALENE
摘要 PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as a raw material, etc., for high-performance polyesters by subjecting 2- methyl-1-(p-tolyl)-butene, etc., to dehydrocyclizing reaction in the presence of a catalyst of platinum and an alkali (earth) metal supported on aluminum oxide. CONSTITUTION:Alumina is added to an aqueous solution of chloroplatinic acid, etc., in dilute hydrochloric acid and impregnated at 50 deg.C for 2hr while being stirred. Water is then distilled away at 70 deg.C under reduced pressure, dried at 115 deg.C overnight, burned at 550 deg.C in air, added to an aqueous solution of lithium nitrate, dried and burned at 550 deg.C in air to prepare a catalyst composed of aluminum oxide supporting platinum and an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal. The resultant catalyst is then filled in a reactional tube made of quartz glass and reduced at 550'C in a hydrogen gas stream for 5hr. The reactional tube is subsequently maintained at 520 deg.C. 2-Methyl-1-(p-tolyl)-butene or 2- methyl-1-(p-tolyl)-butane or a mixture thereof is passed through the reactional tube to carry out dehydrocyclizing reaction. Thereby, the objective 2,6- dimethylnaphthalene is obtained in high yield.
