PURPOSE:To improve the fracture toughness of piezoelectric ceramics. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric powder materials having different average particle sizes are granulated, uniformly mixed, molded, and calcined. In the piezoelectric ceramic thus obtd., areas 1 having different average particle size from those of surrounding areas are locally formed. When cracks generating in the ceramic attack these areas 1, crackes are diffused into several directions and propagation of cracks is prevented, which improves the fracture toughness of the ceramic. |
