<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet composite which is highly absorbent of polar solvents other than water and water containing electrolytes or organic substances, prevents leakage of retained liquids, has high heat resistance, can be used independently without mixing other materials and has processability, and to provide a production method capable of easily producing the wet composite and a polar solvent absorber using the wet composite. <P>SOLUTION: The wet composite can be obtained by bringing an organic solution (A) of a compound selected from a dicarboxylic acid halide, a dichloroformate compound and a phosgene-based compound in an organic solvent into contact with an aqueous solution (B) of an alkali silicate, an alkali metal-containing inorganic compound selected from a metal oxide, a metal hydroxide and a metal carbonate, which has two or more metal elements, one of the metal elements being an alkali metal, and diamine. The wet composite retains polar solvents in a composite composed of an organic polymer and an inorganic compound.
