POLARIZATION FILM MADE OF HALFCRYSTALLINE POLYOLEFIN

摘要

PURPOSE: To provide a process for manufacturing a polarizing film with a high dichroic ratio and strong polarity related to it from semicrystalline polymer. CONSTITUTION: This process to manufacture polarizing film comprises drawing a polymer film containing a dichroic dye at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the polymer. The polymer film consists mainly of semicrystalline polyolefine, and the film is drawn at a temperature below the crystalline melting point of the polyolefine, and the dye is present in the liquid form at the drawing temperature. The obtained dye-containing polyolefine polarizing film has dichroic ratio of at least 15.
