ULTRASONIC PROBE FOR INTRA-BODY CAVITY USE

PURPOSE:To adjust the focus point of an ultrasonic beam with the ultrasonic probe of a catheter type to be inserted into a blood vessel. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic vibrator transducer 12 is arranged in the front end of the catheter and ultrasonic waves are radiated from the vibration plane directed backward. An ultrasonic mirror 14 which is an ultrasonic radiator is arranged freely movably back and forth and turnably in the front end 10 and the ultrasonic waves are reflected by this ultrasonic mirror 14. The distance at which the ultrasonic waves propagate is varied by moving the ultrasonic mirror 14 back and forth. Consequently, the distance from the catheter to the focus point of the ultrasonic beam is changed.
