PURPOSE:To easily recover high-purity In from an In-Pb-Ag alloy by electrolyzing the alloy used as an anode with an HNO3-acidified soln. as the electrolyte and dissolving In is the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An In-Pb-Ag alloy used as an anode is electrolyzed with an HNO3-acidified soln. as the electrolyte (at about pH 0 to 2.0), hence Pb is electrolyzed on a cathode (Pb sheet, etc.), Ag is left on the anode as an anode slice, and Ag is dissolved in the electrolyte. Since a small amt. of Pb is contained in the electrolyte wherein In is dissolved, an equivalent amt. of H2SO3 is added to deposit Pb as PbS0. which is filtered off. A Zn powder, for example, is added to the electrolyte freed of Pb to sufficiently remove HNO3 and spongy metallic In is deposited by the substitution of In by Zn. High-purity In is easily recovered in this way from the scrap In-Pb-Ag alloy contg. In.
|
