PURPOSE: To keep elastomer viscosity optimal by mixing elastomer components with a twin screw extruder at controlled temperatures and mixing elastomer and specific compound through a loss-in-weight feeder and liquid feeder. CONSTITUTION: A sharing twin-screw extruder 10 mixes elastomer. At this instance, most of the thermal input generated from the screws is made by viscous friction of the mixing operation. The temperature control is carried out by heating and cooling. Elastomer is not molten in the extruder 10, and it has high viscosity and low fluidity. As the mixing ratio of specific compound is determined on the basis of viscosity, the component is fed to the fixed quantity extruder 10 by loss-in-weight feeders 22, 24, 26 and liquid feeders 28, 30. Temperature, feeding quantity, and screw speed are controlled during the operation so that the specific compound may be correctly dispersed and mixed. Accordingly, viscosity is made optimal, and dispersion and mixing are precisely controlled. |
