PURPOSE: To obtain the fiber having its improved antifriction by treating surfaces of fibers contg. a hydrophobic polyolefin with a surface modifier selected from the specified polyol, water soluble esters or polyester, or glycol. CONSTITUTION: By using a liq. abrasion-resistant surface modifier, selected from (A) a polyol (e.g. glycerol) of formula I or II (where, R is 1-4C alkyl; (m) is 0-3; and (n) is 0-4), (B) a water sol. ester or polyester comprising the prescribed polyol and 1-6C straight or branched fatty acids or (C) a glycol based on the above polyol and ethylene oxide, etc., surfaces of fibers or filaments contg. hydrophobic polyolefins are treated to obtain hydrophobic polyolefin fibers having improved antifriction and antistatic property and capable of card processing. The treated fibers make it easy to proceed machining, over surface treating, cutting and carding, etc., and to proceed to hydrophobic nonwoven materials. |
