PURPOSE:To enable such a comfortable follow-up traveling as making an unpleasant feeling ungiven to a driver to be done even in the case where a wandering has occurred in a preceding car to be followed up, in a driving controller for a vehicle which runs after the preceding car as controlling a car-to-car distance so as to accord with a desired car-to-car distance being calculated on the basis of one's own car speed and relative speed with the preceding car. CONSTITUTION:Each detection signal out of a car-to-car distance sensor 10 and a car speed sensor 12 is inputted into a microcomputer 18 which calculates a desired car-to-car distance on the basis of car speed and relative speed, performing car speed control so as to accord with this desired car-to-car distance. At this juncture, in the case where the relative speed is less than the specified value, and a difference between the car-to-car distance and the desired one is less than the specified value, throttle control is carried out so as to maintain the current car speed, thereby running after a preceding car.
