PURPOSE: To make it possible to exclude noncoincident particulate groups or to decrease these groups down to a negligible level by forming silver halide emulsion layers as planar grain emulsion layers specified in the coefft. of fluctuation and total grain groups of the grain emulsions. CONSTITUTION: This multicolor photographic element has blue recording yellow, dyestuff image forming layer units, green recording magenta dyestuff image forming layer units and red recording cyan dyestuff image forming layer units on a base and is capable of forming visible reversal dyestuff images. The respective layer units contain, based on the total amt. of silver as a reference, silver halide emulsions having the halide grain contents of 0 to 5mol% chloride, 0.1 to 20mol% iodide and 80 to 99.9mol% bromide in the layers. The coefft. of the fluctuation of the planar grain emulsions of the silver halide emulsion layers is specified to <15% based on by total grain groups of the emulsions as a reference. Even more, the total grain groups of the planar emulsions is the tabular grain emulsion layers consisting of the planar grains exhibiting <0.3μm average thickness and average planar degree over 25.
