<p>PURPOSE:To improve reliability by providing a pair of a first guide means having a slope pressing the upper and lower ends of a magnetic tape and a second guide means having a plane prescribing the position of a final running height. CONSTITUTION:The width of the sliding surface 1c of the first tape guide 1 and the width of the sliding surface 2c of the second tape guide 2 are set together so as to be equal to the width of the magnetic tape or set within 20mum of the allowable range of the positional deviation of the running height of the magnetic tape on a magnetic head and on the wide side. The sliding surface 1c of the magnetic tape is formed with the curved surface of a cylindrical shape and the angle theta of the slopes 1a, 1b is regarded as 50-70 degree. Further, the center of the sliding surface 1c and the center of the sliding surface 2c are set together so as to coincide with the center of the magnetic tape in the position of the prescribed running height of the magnetic tape on the sliding surface 3a of the magnetic head 3. Thus, the position of the running height of the tape is controlled in the state of reducing the tape curl on the sliding surface of the magnetic head and the tape damage by the tape guide.</p> |
