<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a using memory and to improve the image processing efficiency by applying a DCT operation to the input data, omitting the lower order bits of the input data, and coding the remaining data. CONSTITUTION:A DCT 1 operation is applied to the input image data and the prescribed number of lower order bits of the image data are omitted. Thus the number of bits are decreased. When the data containing the reduced number of bits are extended, those omitted lower order bits are fixed with the sine bits. Then the data containing the fixed lower order bits can undergo an adverse DCT 2 operation. Thus, the bit number of the output data on the DCT 1 is decreased and the memory capacity is also reduced. Then the compression processing efficiency is improved for the images.</p> |
