PURPOSE:To always keep printing speed high while avoiding the joint of a photosensitive body and forming an image by using a mark position where an intermediate transfer body is selected, as an image forming reference position, and determining image forming timing based on the reference position and a time difference. CONSTITUTION:One photosensitive body position detecting mark is provided on the photosensitive body, and plural intermediate transfer body position detecting marks 2 are provided on the intermediate transfer body 1. Further, in a state where the photosensitive body and the intermediate transfer body 1 are rotated, one of plural position detecting marks 2 given to the intermediate transfer body 1 is selected, based on the detecting timing of the position detecting mark of the photosensitive body and the position detecting marks 2 of the intermediate transfer body 1, and the selected mark position serves as the image forming reference position, to determine the image forming timing, based on this reference position. Thus, the width for returning to origin, of a phase difference generated by rotating the intermediate transfer body 1 and the photosensitive body, can be made small, and printing speed in consecutive printing and fast printing, can be prevented from being reduced. |
