<p>PURPOSE: To estimate both the position and inclination of a pen by using a measured value of weighted coil signals. CONSTITUTION: A digitizer table 10 has a sensor grid 12 including an array 14 of two overlapped coils. One coil of the array 14 is arranged at a right angle to the other coil. A pen 16 generates an electromagnetic signal, and this signal is detected by a sensor grid 12. This system includes a data processor 30 for exactly presuming the position and inclined angle of a pointing device related with a coordinate system related with a detection surface in response to a detected amplitude. A first pen position presumed value derived from a zero crossing pressure is obtained. Then, the center of a first curve is placed on the first pen position presumed value. Next, the least squares linear approximation of a weighted coil measured value is calculated, and a second improved pen position presumed value is obtained. Then, the center of a second curve is placed on the second improved pen position presumed value, an RMS is normalized, and an evaluated inclined value is obtained.</p> |
