PURPOSE:To provide an external manifold type molten carbonate type fuel cell which can generate a good manifold by preventing rupture of a spacer due to difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion when the temp. is going up or down. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 11 consisting of a gathering of a plurality of spacer pieces 11a is secured to the seal surface of a manifold 9 with a zirconia cloth 10 interposed. The seal surfaces 17 of adjoining spacer pieces 11a are put in tight contacting, and they 11a are placed at a certain spacing 18 and fastened to threaded holes 13 in the manifold 9 with screws 12. |
