<p>PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a pointing device and also to reduce the size and the weight of the pointing device by forming the pointing device with a ball, a push member, and a push sensor means for the push member. CONSTITUTION:A ball 1 set at the center part is made of the plastic resin or the hard rubber and disposed freely revolvable in a track ball unit. The X and Y axis encoders provided in the track ball unit can detect the operating direction and the manipulated variable of the ball 1. The push of a button 11 is detected by a sensor switch 12. In regard of a pointing device 10 of such a constitution, the upper surface part of the button 11 is set higher than an external wall 13. The button 11 has a hole 10a at its center part to rotatably store the ball 1 and also doubles as a housing of the device 10.</p> |
